Tonight may haunt Daniel Nava for a little bit. Between some bad decisions on the basepaths and a bad call by umpire Jerry Meals, the Rays take back the AL East lead with a 2-1 victory over the Sox. After coming in as a pinch runner after Ryan Lavarnway doubled, Stephen Drew managed to get a hold of one deep to right but Nava couldn't figure if Wil Myers could make a play on it and Nava erred on the side of caution, staying close to second base to tag, Once the ball dropped onto the warning track, Nava couldn't make it home to tie the game.  Then Brandon Snyder, who homered earlier, lifted a Joel Peralta offering to left center and Nava was ready to tag. Sam Fuld made the catch and Nava booked it and appeared to just beat the throw...except umpire Jerry Meals was blocked by Jose Molina and called him out. This brought out John Farrell to argue and all it got was an early night as Meals ejected him. The Sox had another chance in the ninth getting two men on against Fernando Rodney but couldn't take advantage of that as Mike Napoli struck out to end the game. But before all of that, it appeared that the Rays were going to cruise as their ace David Price looked damn near unhittable for the second time in five days. He only allowed just one run on two hits heading into the eighth and the run was off of a Brandon Snyder home run that hit Pesky's Pole. But a 38-minute rain delay cooled him off and once play resumed he struggled against Johnny Gomes but he still manged to strike him out. Manager Joe Madden decided enough was enough and took him out after only 90 pitches. For the Sox, Felix Doubront had himself an old Doubront effort: five innings giving up eight hits & walking four. He was able to get out of jams thanks to some timely strikeouts and double plays. In the fourth, Sean Rodriguez managed to get an RBI double and in the fifth it was a Mil Wyers fielder's choice that drove in the second and what would be the game winning run. The Sox now have to deal with a pesky Seattle Mariner club coming to town and hopefully get out of the offensive funk that they've been in over the past week. Box Score
