Now that was a pitching performance that this team needed!

Jon Lester allowed just one run on eight hits at the lefty goes the distance against the Mariners, leading the team to a 6-1 victory. Lester had his contol all game as he didn't allow a single baserunner until the fourth and didn't face any serious threat until the seventh and he worked out of that. The lone run came off of a fielders choice in the ninth. Lester struck out six and didn't allow a walk.

The Sox gave Lester a 2-0 run early as David Ortiz & Adrian Gonzalez got back to back RBI doubles. They extended the lead in the 4th as Daniel Nava hit a two run homer and Kelly Shoppach added a solo shot over the Monster to make it 5-0, which was more then enough with the way Lester was pitching.

This is the fourth straight quality start out of the rotation and the fourth straight win for the team. . Hopefully Beckett can keep the momentum going on Tim Wakefield appreciation day.
