Well that beat last night's debacle, huh?
The Red Sox walloped the Giants in the finale of their three game series 12-1 in an afternoon matchup. Felix Doubront followed Jon Lester's tune from Monday night with another gem. On 114 pitches, Doubront threw eight innings allowing five hits, one walk, and only one earned run (Joaquin Arias solo-shot). The lefty also contributed three strikeouts in his strong effort.
Plenty of hot bats went around the Red Sox offense, including the usual suspects like Ellsbury, Pedroia, and Victorino. However, the main storyline from this game was the continuation of Middlebrooks' hot streak since being recalled from Pawtucket.
The young third-baseman went 1-3, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. He went yard in the second inning with a two-run homer to left. Since being recalled from the minors, Middlebrooks is 15 of 34 (.441), 2 HR, and 7 RBI. Heading down the stretch, this is the power bat they need to stay hot.
The Red Sox travel to face the LA Dodgers Friday, as John Lackey looks to face Ricky Nolasco. First pitch is at 10:10 p.m.
