The Sox started off strong and never surrendered the lead as the completed the sweep of the Chicago White Sox with the 7-6 victory. Big Papi is doing a great job breaking out of his slump, as he drove in 3 runs, 2 on a double and the third on a single. His average has climbed 5 percentage points to .315 since the beginning of the series. Pedey followed his 0-fer night last night with a 2-for-4 afternoon with a run scored and walk. Stephen Drew threw in a solo homer, and Jacoby Ellsbury was the one who started the scoring with his 2-run single in the 2nd. The story from the mound wasn't as great, as Felix Doubront couldn't find his rhythm, getting chased from the game after 3 2/3 innings (7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB, 4 K). The Sox had to use 5 pitchers from the bullpen, and Workman was awarded the win after coming in for relief of Doubront. Workman didn't look that great, but he came in at the right time for the W. Skip forward to Uehara who sealed the deal quite nicely for his 16th save of the season. It wasn't pretty, but it was a huge win, as the Rays lost their 4th straight to give the Sox a 5 1/2 game lead in the division. The Sox have a huge test coming up in the Detroit Tigers starting tomorrow afternoon. Box Score
