(AP Photo/Winslow Townson) It was another one of those "everyone hits" game, as 8 starting Sox' batters recorded two or more hits in the 8-2 victory over the Padres. The only one to record only one hit was Brandon Snyder, though it was a solo homer for his first of the season. So, we can excuse him for getting only one hit. It will take all afternoon to breakdown what everyone did in the 18-hit assault against Padres pitching, so I'll recap the big hits. Brandon Snyder and Jacoby Ellsbury each had solo homers (2nd and 8th inning respectively). Ellsbury topped the hit column with 3 (HR, 2 singles), Pedey and Ortiz each recorded 2 RBI, and our man Jose Iglesias went 2-for-4 to get his average back up to .411. Thankfully, Stephen Drew came down with "Drew disease", or as some people may call it, a hamstring injury, leaving us with everyday Iglesias at short. Another promising sign was another solid start from Allen Webster. Webster went 6 strong, giving up 5 hits, 2 runs (both earned), 4 walks, and struck out 4. Obviously that was good enough for his first career victory. Brandon Snyder and Allen Webster looking good for the big club, pretty cool thing to see. It is hard not to be optimistic about the future of the Red Sox, and the promise of a playoff birth this season. Oh, and the Pirates lost, so the Sox have the best record in the majors at 53-34. Friggin' sweet. Box Score
