Boston wanted compensation for Theo Epstein, make no mistake about it. They weren’t about to let the man who built their championship seasons walk away scot free. On the otherhand, the Cubs weren’t willing to give them quality, probably because they don’t ave much in the bank that you could describe as quality. After a few months of bickering, the terms have been hammered out. The Red Sox have officially received Chris Carpenter for the boy genius. OMG! Chris Carpenter, Cy Young Award winner?!?! No Boston. You got Chris Carpenter, rookie bullpener who gave up nearly 2 walks and hits per inning pitched last year. Who knows, the guy might end up being quality. Then again, boy genius was involved in the decision for his own compensation, so yeah. Say, how is Dice-K looking this year anyway? GYRO-Ball!!1!! (Boston.com)
