The Boston Red Sox are apparently focused on re-signing designated hitter David Ortiz according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN. Last week, we learned that Ortiz had received “serious interest” from more than one team. We also learned that he wants to sign a three-year deal. Ortiz hit .309/.398/.554 with 29 HR's, 84 runs and 96 RBI's in 525 AB's for the Red Sox in 2011. The 36-year old veteran earned $12.5 million in 2011. That means he got paid $431,034.48 for every home run he hit, or $130,208.33 for every RBI, or $148,809.52 for every run he scored, or $51,867.22 for every time he got on base.
