Found August 27, 2013 on FenwayNation:
We're not exactly sure what it means, but the Red Sox consummated a trade today—acquiring outfielder Quintin Berry from the Kansas City Royals for Clayton Mortensen. Berry's only MLB experience came in 2012 with the Tigers—hitting .258 in 94 games for Detroit. Berry had been designated for assignment by the Royals in June. Your guess is as good as ours!

REPORT: NYY Could Be 'Wild Card' On Ellsbury

The HorrorAccording to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, The Evil Empire (AKA The Pinstriped Posers, Evil Ones, Bronx Embalmers) could be a "wild card" contender for the free agency services of Jacoby Ellsbury. In an article listing the top 50 2014 free agents (Ellsbury is ranked #2 just behind Robinson Cano), Heyman states that Boston, Seattle or Toronto are the most likely...

Only one way to go down in Royals closer Greg Holland's world: Swinging

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Sometimes, there would be one shiner. Sometimes, there would be two. The cover story was the same, regardless: "How'd you get that black eye?" Todd Raleigh would ask. "Fell down the stairs," Greg Holland would reply, grinning sheepishly. The first time, it worked. But as a Western Carolina Catamount, Holland seemed to fall down the stairs...

The Kansas City Royals Did Not Lose The Trade

The Kansas City Royals trounced the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. We got to watch Wil Myers play. Which brings up the one thing that will always be associated with Myers to baseball fans and especially KC baseball fans. The trade. The common wisdom about the James Shields for Wil Myers trade was that The Royals were making a huge mistake. Without any of the players yet to have played...

Mike Napoli and Adult Film Star Rachel Starr?

If this is true – it’s a great pull by Mike Napoli. The pudgy, bearded Red Sox first baseman will have his hands full with this one. I trust that most of the fans have seen Rachel Starr a time or two or three.

Doubront, Lackey, Lester To Face O's At Fenway

Since the final month of the disastrous 2011 season, the Baltimore Orioles have been a thorn in the side of The Carmine Hose. Even this year, Boston is just 4-6 against the Birds as they fly into Fenway for a three-game set. The Red Sox will send 9-6 lefty Felix Doubront to the mound tonight to face fellow port-sider Wei-Yin Chen. John Lackey will take to the hill on Wednesday night...

Buchholz 'Fine' After Re-Hab Start For Single A

(Boston Herald Photo)Maybe it's the name of the place he had to pitch in. Would you want to hurl a re-hab start in Fishkill, NY (or more precisely, Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls, NY)? Not bloody likely. Anyway, Clay "Get That Infant Off My Shoulder" Buchholz threw a forgettable start for the Single A Lowell Spinners yesterday and pronounced himself physically...

Jon Lester One of Game’s Most Dominant Lefties, Has Eyes on Hall of Fame Nod

SUBWAY® is celebrating ‘The Boys in the Hall’ this season and Boston’s lefty ace is on its radar. Jon Lester, who has been mowing down opponents since 2006, has won 97 games in his first 214 career starts. Nearly a Cy Young Award winner in 2010, Lester went 19-9 with a 3.25 ERA. The 29-year-old from Washington has won at least 15 games in four seasons and is just three wins...

John Farrell Hasn’t Been Perfect In-Game Manager, But Red Sox Skipper Still Deserves Ton of Credit for Turnaround

The Red Sox had an interesting week. It was also a productive week. When the Red Sox boarded their flight to San Francisco last Monday, they did so on the heels of a crushing loss to the Yankees. Boston, of course, fell to New York on the national stage in an eventful game that saw Ryan Dempster drill Alex Rodriguez and A-Rod subsequently hit a home run against the veteran right...

Mike Carp drove in the winning run Wednesday to give Boston a 4-3 victory over the visiting Orioles (Jim Rogash/Getty Images) Jan-Christian Sorensen Contributing Writer Don’t be surprised if you spot Boston starter John Lackey on the corner of Lansdowne Street one day soon with a tin cup and a cardboard sign reading “Brother, can you spare a run?" The Sox have scored...

NESN Names More Substitutes For Jerry Remy

NESN announced today that Dennis Eckersley would continue pairing up with Don Orsillo on TV broadcasts of Red Sox games through Thursday. Then, Friday through Monday, Orsillo will be joined by Jon Rish—who quit WEEI last April before that radio station experienced its major shake-ups (that persist to this day). Also on Friday, Hall of Fame baseball writer Peter Gammons will be...

Andrew Albers looks to replicate first start against Royals

The odds are stacked against the Kansas City Royals in their pursuit of a playoff berth, but that hasn't stopped manager Ned Yost from planning ahead. With the postseason in mind, Yost sent the struggling Wade Davis to the bullpen and will call up Danny Duffy to start Wednesday night's contest against the Minnesota Twins as visiting Kansas City seeks a fourth straight victory...

Game 133: Orioles at Red Sox - Birds in town as playoff push begins

Ben Whitehead Contributing Writer A successful trip to the West Coast yielded a 4-2 record for the Red Sox, who won both series in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Boston returns home tonight with a 1.5-game lead in the AL East and will be facing a team that has been a thorn in its side for the past two seasons. The Baltimore Orioles have been hovering around 5 games back for a while...

Red Sox-Orioles Live: Felix Doubront Takes Hill As Sox Open Nine-Game Homestand Against Baltimore

12 p.m.: The Red Sox can go a long way in squashing the playoff hopes of one of their division rivals starting Tuesday night in Boston. The Sox return home from a West Coast road trip Monday night to host the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park. The O’s come into Boston having lost eight of their last 14 games, and they begin the day 5 1/2 games back of the Red Sox in the American...

Demspter hopes suspension will help him get past recent struggles

Sam Galanis Contributing Writer Ryan Dempster may have been suspended, but he actually saw it as a good thing. The pitcher, who in his last seven starts has gone 1-1 with a 6.81 ERA, took the five-day suspension as an opportunity to hopefully bring his game up for his next start on Friday at home against the White Sox. "My arm is probably benefiting from it," Dempster...
