And so the debate rages on.
The Boston Red Sox put the finishing touches on their coaching staff after hiring Greg Colbrunn as the new hitting coach on Wednesday, and now comes time to fill out the roster
Last season, the team dealt with its fair share of both injuries and ineffectiveness, before finally rebooting to some extent by trading away Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford. With three months left until spring training, the Red Sox front office certainly has a lot of work to do, but it’s unclear what the team should be focusing on most.
Rob Bradford and Ian Browne discussed the issue at hand on Wednesday’s edition of NESN Daily. Check out the video above to hear what they had to say.

BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY
In an effort to, no doubt, remove the bitter taste of 2012 from the collective mouth of Red Sox nation...the team has released a humorous nod to the 1989 holiday classic "Christmas Vacation".Although it does appear to be more than Clark Griswold's 250 strands of light. I guess it's a good thing they got David Ortiz under contract early. Your browser does not support iframes.
As the calendar turns, many people look back on the year that was and try to make sense of the many highs that accompany the last 365 days. GQ Magazine, in a spoof of the many publications that create “most influential” lists at year’s end, has instead chosen to single out those in the world of pop culture who were the least significant of the last 12 months. Described as “a...

The Boston Red Sox had until midnight on Friday to decide who tender contracts to that were under the team's control. As you might have expected, the Red Sox had some tough decisions to make.
GM Ben Cherington decided to not tender contracts to three players. Those three players are Scott Atchison, Rich Hill and Ryan Sweeney.
To me, Hill is the most surprising.

Anyone who thought that the Boston Red Sox would sit back and relax this offseason without making a splash following their blockbuster salary dump last season clearly has not been paying attention to how this team operates. Yes, the Red Sox dealt away Kevin Youkilis, Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Beckett last season to the Los Angeles Dodgers to clear payroll. But they...

The Oakland Athletics have acquired right-hander Sandy Rosario from the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
The AL West champion A's cleared room on the 40-man roster by designating outfielder Jermaine Mitchell for assignment.
Boston claimed Rosario off waivers from Miami on Oct. 17 after he spent the year in the Marlins organization. He began...
Christmas time comes but once a year and the only thing hotter than the chestnuts roasting or hot chocolate is the MLB’s hot stove.
The Red Sox are coming off a tough season in 2012 with a last-place finish in the American League East and 93 losses making it a rather forgettable summer. But with the offseason comes new life and a few big-name free agents could change the tune of...
BOSTON — The Red Sox are only halfway done with their hitting coach search.
Despite hiring Greg Colbrunn to be the club’s primary hitting coach, Red Sox skipper John Farrell reiterated his intention to appoint an assistant hitting coach and employ a two-hitting coach system.
Although Farrell is still sifting through candidates, he identified one viable candidate for the open...
Red Sox Nation was thrown a major curveball early this week when a report surfaced stating that the Royals were interested in Jon Lester and could be willing to deal their top prospect in exchange for the left-hander.
Trading Lester is something that most Sox fans probably never envisioned, and likely still don’t envision, but the thought of acquiring what many scouts tab as a...
