TEAMS: Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Twins
I'm pretty sure this isn't how the Boston Red Sox expected this four-game series to go with the Minnesota Twins. I know it's not what I expected.
Skipper Bobby Valentine said the goal for the rest of the season was to win each series for the rest of the year. But after last night's 6-5 loss to the Twins that won't be happening in this series. The best the Red Sox can hope for now is to split this series with the lowly Twins.
After a loss, Felix Doubront has been solid for the Red Sox this season. Unfortunately though he let his emotions get the best of him when the strike zone calls from home plate umpire Mark Wegner didn't go his way. And it ultimately cost him a 5-1 lead the offense had given him. Doubront will learn as he gets more experience not to let his emotions get the best of him.
For the offense, it was a night of wasted chances.
They left 10 runners on base as a team and were just 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position. On a night where t...

Bobby Valentine Admits Red Sox Ownership Spoke to Him About Communication With Will Middlebrooks
Bobby Valentine has been criticized at times this year for his communication methods with Red Sox players. Valentine told WEEI's the Big Show that team ownership approached him only once this season about his communication with the players, after...
Bobby Valentine Adjusting to the Challenge of Having Three Catchers on Roster
BOSTON -- In 16 years of managing, Bobby Valentine never once had three catchers at the same time. After promoting Ryan Lavarnway earlier this week, it placed the Red Sox manager in unfamiliar territory, considering Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Kelly Shoppach are each healthy and also in the catching fold. "I don't know how permanent a three-catcher situation is going to be...

Vote: Who Was the Star of Sunday's Red Sox Win Over the Twins?
Bobby Valentine's bunch got back to its winning ways on Sunday afternoon with a 6-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Sunday's afternoon win was the first in the month of August and it was capitalized by a stellar pitching performance from Franklin Morales, the resurgence of Carl Crawford's bat and a two-run home run from Adrian Gonzalez in the fifth inning that proved...
Your Morning Dump...where Bobby V can't get any respect in this city.
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
It’s too late to empower Bobby Valentine. It’s too late to make his players like him. It’s too late to give him his own coaching staff. But it’s not too late to correct the biggest mistake of the offseason...
Bobby Valentine Brushes Off Curt Schilling's Criticisms on Day of Pitcher's Red Sox Hall of Fame Induction
BOSTON –– Curt Schilling has been very critical of the Red Sox. During spring training, Schilling ruffled feathers when he said Daniel Bard's conversion from reliever to starter was being "being mismanaged on an epically horrible scale." Then he claimed the Red Sox players were already fed up with Bobby Valentine in Fort Myers. Most recently, Schilling took Valentine...
