Boston Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks was hospitalized over the weekend with an undisclosed intestinal ailment.
The Providence Journal reported that the 30-year-old Jenks was undergoing a colonoscopy on Monday.
Jenks has had an injury-plagued first season with the Red Sox, appearing in only 19 games. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list one month ago with lower back tightness.
For the season, Jenks is 2-2 with a bloated 6.32 ERA for American League East-leading Boston.
