In mid-December, relief pitcher Mark Melancon saw his baseball world flipped upside down. He was traded from the Houston Astros, who owned the Majors worst record in 2011, to the Boston Red Sox. Melancon and his wife, Mary Catherine, celebrated the change by traveling to Stewart Island off the coast of New Zealand and "taking on" great white sharks. The video shows Mark and Mary Catherine preparing for their dive and then continues with the camera getting close enough to the sharks that you can see their tonsils. This may have been Melancon's way of preparing for the pressure of pitching in a pennant race or it may have been flat out bananas. As explained by the "shark experts", there was a possibility that he area would contain up to 100 great white sharks.Either way, it made for one heck of a video:
