The Red Sox’ offense is starting to take form after the additions of Mike Napoli and Shane Victorino. Now Boston will try and bolster the front end of their pitching rotation. The Red Sox’ lack of pitching was at the epicenter of their 90-loss 2012 campaign and it will be key in bringing about a successful 2013 season. While Boston will not get Zack Greinke, since he signed with the Dodgers on Saturday, or Ryan Dempster after he turned down an offer from the Sox, there are still options like Kyle Lohse and Anibal Sanchez waiting for their number to be called. Ian Browne of MLB.com spoke with NESN’s Jenny Dell on Saturday’s edition of NESN Daily. To hear what he has to say about the Red Sox’ options at starting pitching, check out the video above.

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Pedro Martinez: “Just A Matter Of Time” Before Rejoining Sox

According to WEEI’s Rob Bradford, former Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez is set to rejoin the organization in an official working capacity at some point in the near future. While speaking at the David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic in Punta Cana, Martinez stated that “it’s just a matter of time” before he returns to Boston in a role similar to the one recently given to his former...

Red Sox acquire Godfrey, clinch World Series title

The Red Sox received Graham Godfrey from Oakland today, completing their trade of Sandy Rosario a few weeks ago.  Here's an unofficial phone transcript of the call when John Henry called Bud Selig to inform him of the deal (I'm really good at hacking into corporate telco systems): JH: Commissioner, we've agreed to acquire Graham Godfrey as the PTNBL from Oakland. ...

Kyle Lohse Would Bring Stability to Red Sox Pitching Staff That Still Needs to Improve Before Opening Day (Video)

The Red Sox have bolstered their offense by adding Mike Napoli, Shane Victorino and Jonny Gomes. There’s still work to be done, however, and it all starts with the team’s pitching staff. As it stands, the Sox have some holes in their rotation, and you can bet Ben Cherington would like to add a hurler or two before Opening Day. If that is, in fact, the route Cherington goes in...

Report: Ryan Dempster Turns Down Two-Year Offer From Red Sox

The Red Sox are at least looking for starting pitching. The question now is whether they’ll be able to scoop up free agents for the rotation as quickly as they have for the outfield. At least one pitcher Boston has reached out to, Ryan Dempster, appears to be out of the running. Gordon Edes of ESPN reports that Dempster has turned down a two-year, $25 million offer from the Red...

Johnny Damon Says He Tried to Get on Red Sox’ Roster This Past September

The Red Sox invited the stars of the club’s 2004 championship team back to Fenway Park this fall during the ballpark’s 100th anniversary celebrations. Most of the former players were happy to return and share the good times. But some, like former Sox hero Johnny Damon, were apparently trying to spin their involvement into a second go-around with the team. Damon, who is still...

Don’t Touch The Stove, It’s Hot: Grading The Red Sox Moves So Far

I’m pretty realistic about the Red Sox chances next season. There’s no reason to believe that they are going to make any kind of World Series run or anything of that nature, but with all the money they freed up with the blockbuster trade that sent Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and the immortal Nick Punto to the Dodgers, I thought the team would be able to be a relatively big...

The Winter Meetings were pretty quiet for the Royals

Each year, officials from the 30 Major League teams come together for the Winter Meetings to make deals via trades or free agent signings. Of course trades and free agent signings happen all year, but some important deals happen during the Winter Meetings. Some teams make a big splash, some teams just show up. The Royals didn’t made a splash as of Wednesday night. They have...

Rangers' roster could have different look

Go to any web site selling Texas Rangers gear and there they are: T-shirts and jerseys with the names Napoli, Hamilton and Young on the back. Soon, they could all be in the bargain bin. The Rangers are undergoing much more than a wardrobe change this winter. General manager Jon Daniels and team president Nolan Ryan are in the midst of reshaping the team. Mike Napoli is already...
