The Boston Red Sox signed right-handers Aaron Cook and Justin Germano to minor league contracts on Monday. Both players received an invitation to spring training and could vie for the No. 5 spot in the rotation. Cook went 3-10 with a 6.03 ERA in 17 starts (18 appearances) with Colorado last season. He had spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Rockies. Germano went 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA with Cleveland last year. He was sold to the Samsung Lions of South Korea on Aug. 5.
