After injuring his hamstring early on in camp, Clay Buchholz hadn't made a start in any of the spring training games to date for the Red Sox. But with him being healthy and a longer spring because of the WBC, barring any setbacks, he should be on track to start the season.
Buchholz made his spring debut on Saturday in a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Twins to a 1-0 lead in the Mayor's Cup. He went 1 1/3 innings and allowed just one hit while walking two and striking out two. For his first time out, that's not too bad and he'll be able to work on what wrong in his side sessions before his next start.
The Red Sox will be missing two more of there players as Shane Victorino has left for Team USA camp while Alfredo Aceves has left for Mexico's camp. Prospect Xander Bogaerts is already gone as he is playing for the Netherlands.
His Netherlands team is 1-1 and he has no hits so far in five at-bats. He has walked twice and scored a run.
