Boston is freezing and Opening Day is still more than two months away, but Fenway Park already has a baseball feel to it.
That’s because the Red Sox will be hosting the Winterfest Video Game Tournament at the ballpark on Saturday, Jan. 26. The event, which will transform the Fenway Park suites into an arcade, will take place 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The bracket-style tournament will feature three divisions — 10 and under, 16 and under and open — and will allow participants to play MLB 12: The Show’s Home Run Derby and Sony Playstation Move at America’s Most Beloved Ballpark. Fans will also have an opportunity to play against Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks.
Those interested in joining the festivities can register at redsox.com. Registration closes at 4:59 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25.
Fenway Park will also be home to open tryouts for National Anthem and public address announcer candidates on Saturday. All are welcomed to showcase their talents as part of the tryouts.

Life is good in Boston. Pedro Martinez and Jason Varitek have re-signed and everyone is hopeful for 2007. Wait, I've heard that line before. Well, although its 2013, Pedro and Varitek are both being signed by Boston, but this time it is as Special Assistants to the General Manager. While we fans are excited to see two legends come back and help their old team, what will this...
Pedro Martinez has returned to the Boston Red Sox.
On Thursday, Martinez, a three-time Cy Young Award winner and eight-time All-Star, who spent seven seasons in Boston, was brought back to the franchise. He will serve as a special assistant to general manager Ben Cherington.
Martinez became a Red Sox starting pitcher in 1998 and was a key cog in the 2004 team that brought a World...
I'm a man of my word and as promised here's a quick preview of the 2013 Red Sox starting rotation. Keep in mind this isn't an in depth Jeremy Schaap-esque report (that guy can pull a story), but rather a glancing look at what was, what is and what might be in store for the Red Sox starting rotation.
Enjoy Red Sox Nation, enjoy.

According to a report from WEEI’s Rob Bradford on Friday, Red Sox outfielder Ryan Kalish will likely undergo surgery on an unspecified ailment and miss the entirety of spring training. According to Bradford, the ailment is not to Kalish’s neck, which has been an issue for the outfielder throughout the past year.
Kalish underwent two separate neck surgeries in 2012, one on a...
The Boston Red Sox General Manager Ben Cherington announced this morning that former Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez has been signed as a special assistant to the General Manager. Martinez is the second ex-Red Sox player to be signed onto staff with this role, joining Jason Varitek.
Cherington was quoted saying "We are very excited to have Pedro onboard with us and back in the...
It’s now going on nine years since the Red Sox broke the Curse of the Bambino and captured the franchise’s first World Series title in 86 years.
While David Ortiz remains the last Red Sox from the 2004 team, on Thursday it was announced the Pedro Martinez would be returning to Boston as a special assistant.
With Jason Varitek also joining the front office last season, it begs...
Former Boston manager Terry Francona gave Pedro Martinez a big hug along with some advice to help him in his new job as a special assistant to the Red Sox general manager.
''Now he's going to have to be on time,'' Francona needled his former pitcher on Thursday when the two were reunited at the annual dinner of the Boston chapter of the Baseball Writers Association...
Today the Red Sox announced that Pedro “Peety” Martinez
would be rejoining the Red Sox organization as a special assistant to the
general manager. I don’t know what a “special assistant to the general manager”
does exactly, but I’m stoked to have him back in Beantown. I won’t speak on
behalf of the entire Red Sox Nation (although I could and most of the time
As reported earlier this morning by Anthony Aidonidis the Red Sox pitching staff will report to
the Sox spring training facility in Ft. Meyers ahead of
their mandated February 12th date. This has to be an encouraging sign
for newly minted manager John Farrell as the Sox attempt to turn the page on a
disappointing 2012 season.
RedSox.com is reporting that manager...

The Red Sox and Pirates seem to be good trading partners this off-season. A big deal at the end of December brought Joel Hanrahan already to Boston.
If the two sides keep the communications open there might be another deal to be made.
The Pirates are the ones to start the latest rumor that Garrett Jones...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Now his return to the field will revolve around mentoring young pitchers
in Boston's minor league camp, as well as being a resource for the big
league team, available to step in wherever he might be needed...
Turns out, Bo knows all about Mike Napoli's hip problem. A physical exam administered by the Boston Red Sox in December showed that Napoli is afflicted by "avascular necrosis," the slugger revealed Jan. 22 after finalizing a greatly reduced contract to be the team's primary first baseman. The medical condition, which can lead to bone death and degeneration, exists...
With pitchers and catchers reporting to Fort Myers, Florida for spring training February 10th, the Boston Red Sox are primed to put their past three dismal seasons behind them and get back to American League East royalty. Though the Sox recent seasonal campaigns have left a bad taste in the mouth of Red Sox Nation, fans must be patient and realize the MLB season varies spontaneously...
