Batter-up with Bruno:
The Boston Red Sox are almost officially at the midway point of the 2009 season and so far they have achieved expectations. However the Seattle Mariners are trying to do something that has never been done in its 32-year history.Seattle has never swept a three-game series at Fenway Park and Jon Lester and the Red Sox are making sure that this is avoided. Bad enough the Mariners ended the Sox seven-game consecutive winning series.
Also this week the New York Yankees have crept up in the standings and now Boston doesn't have that much breathing room anymore. This week is huge with the home game stretch then the All-Star Break.
Another note: This is the first week since week one that the Sox have had a losing week.
