Reds have improved dramatically

You heard it here. The Cincinnati Reds took giant strides to improve this year, just by signing Dusty Baker, and promoting Johnny Cueto to the big league level. This kid may just have the best young arm in MLB. Time will tell, but early indications show that this young righty, under the tutelage of Mario Soto, will continue to get better. Barring arm problems, I will predict he will be the NL Rookie of the Year, winning 15 to 17 games. Add Edison Volquez to the mix, also. The Reds stole this guy from Texas. who brought him along too fast, with average pitching instruction. This Dominican is now under the guidance of Mario Soto, also, and will take great strides toward a great career beginning this year. Aaron Harang is a consistent top performer in this NL and when Bronson Arroyo is on his game, he too, can be unhittable, his only problem is falling in love with his curveball. A fifth starter is needed to round out the staff. I am afraid Josh Fogg cannot fill the bill. However, waiting in the wings is young Homer Bailey, who the Reds need to get back up to the Majors. His speed and intimidating presence will make the 4 or 5 walks per start worth it. It is better than Fogg's disposition to give up home runs. Hitting will be no problem. The Reds need to keep Junior healthy and Keppinger in the lineup. Keppinger is an adequate fielder at third, short or first and is a much better hitter than anyone else in those positions. Keep the rotation healthy and this team will make the playoffs.
