Cincinnati Reds top prospect Billy Hamilton exited the
Arizona Fall League Championship game yesterday afternoon after leaping into
the outfield wall. Fortunately for the Reds and fans alike, Hamilton was able
to walk off the field with assistance and the injury sustained was later diagnosed
as lower back spasms.
Hamilton jumped back-first into the center field wall while chasing
what ended up being a triple. He was healthy enough after the game to celebrate
with his team, the Peoria Javelinas, following their 4-3 victory over the Salt
The Reds had Hamilton focus on playing center field rather
than the infield during his time in the AFL. He posted a breakout campaign in
2012, hitting .311/.410/.420 with a record 155 stolen bases between High- and

The Reds have one corner outfield spot locked up through at least 2016 with Jay Bruce, though they are currently in the market for another guy for left field, though they could fall back on Todd Frazier and attempt to find a third baseman.

Scott Rolen is expected to retire. This news is not recent or new. The possibility of his retirement broke in early October. However, the Cincinnati Reds' GM Walt Jocketty is expected to speak with Rolen after Thanksgiving.
According to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Rolen has not yet officially retired, so the team wants to talk with him and see if he will return...
