Cincinnati Reds right-handed starting pitcher Johnny Cueto suffered a setback, as he was scratched from his regularly scheduled minor league rehab start today after experiencing soreness in his oblique muscle, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. Cueto was able to log a successful bullpen session on Monday, and he didn't experience any soreness in his arm. However, the right-hander did have discomfort in his side, and manager Dusty Baker said the team will reevaluate Cueto in a few days. “He had a good bullpen [Monday] and he didn’t experience anything in his arm but he experienced soreness in that oblique that he hurt last year in the playoffs,” Reds manager Dusty Baker said. “So, we’ll wait and see.” Cueto hit the disabled list earlier this season with a strained right lat. It's certainly concerning that an oblique ailment has now occurred, as both lats and obliques can be tricky injuries. Sheldon notes that Cueto will be reevaluated on Monday, and the Reds will adjust his rehab scheduling depending on how the injury responds. A similar injury knocked Cueto out of Game 1 of the NLDS last season, and there's no telling how long the Reds will be without the ace. Until he's able to return, Cincinnati will continue using top prospect Tony Cingrani in his place. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?
