Found June 01, 2012 on Redlegs Review:
The month of May treated the Redlegs very kindly. It was a month that saw them not only get over the .500 mark, but it saw them catapult past the Cardinals for first place in the division as well. And you can't do that without some getting some good individual play from your players. Here are a couple of guys who were pivotal in the positive turnaround this month:  Hitter of the month   Joey Votto - The Canadian slugger led the team this month in nearly every offensive category including: homers (6), slugging (.674), total bases (62), on-base percentage (.478), runs scored (18), doubles (12) and OPS (1.152). He currently leads the National League in doubles, walks (43), OPS, IBB (6), and runs created per 27 outs (45.9). He's on pace to slap 73 doubles in 2012 which would set an all-time single season record. Honorable mentions: Ryan Hanigan, Chris Heisey, and Todd Frazier Pitcher of the month Aroldis Chapman - The Cuban Missile...

Pitcher's girlfriend tied up, robbed

Individuals posing as maintenance staff gained access to Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman's hotel room in Pittsburgh, burglarizing the room and tying up Chapman's girlfriend.

Votto, Reds ground Astros in slugfest

Votto was locked in on Saturday Saturday's clash between the Reds (30-22) and Astros (22-31) provided no shortage of fireworks as the teams combined for 21 runs and 28 hits. But in the end, only one squad emerged victorious and that squad was Dusty Baker's bunch who prevailed over host Houston by a tally of 12-9. Neither starter fared very well in this one, thus...

Chapman robbery takes bizarre twist

Police in Pittsburgh questioned a woman for several hours about a robbery in a hotel room where Cincinnati Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman was staying because her story changed, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Friday. Claudia Manrique, 26, said she was tied up by a stranger in the hotel room and stole valuables belonging to Chapman. Later in the questioning, however, she told...

Aroldis Chapman's Girlfriend Claims She Was Robbed in Pitcher's Hotel Room, Later Changes Story Talking to Police

Aroldis Chapman just can't seem to find his way out of trouble. The latest incident in the Reds closer's off-the-field issues occurred on Tuesday night when his girlfriend, Claudia Manrique, claimed she was tied up in a Pittsburgh hotel room and robbed by a man claiming to be a maintenance worker. After police interrogated Manrique for 12 hours, however, inconsistencies in...

Aroldis Chapman's room robbed in Pittsburgh and bound woman found

((ht: post-gazette.com)) Aroldis Chapman Either Aroldis Chapman has some bad mojo surrounding him off the field or he's got some secrets. The reason we say that; apparently during last night's Pittsburgh Pirates/Cincinnati Reds game in Pittsburgh, someone or ones broke into the big Cuban lefthander's room and robbed him. And it appears police found out...

A woman was tied up during robbery of Aroldis Chapman’s hotel room in Pittsburgh

It’s safe to say that the month of May has not been kind to Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman. Things began to head downhill when he was arrested for driving 93 mph with a suspended license. From there, he was hit with an $18 million lawsuit accusing him of conspiracy to detain and torture the plaintiff. And now comes news that his hotel room in Pittsburgh, where he’s staying for...

Girlfriend of Aroldis Chapman bound and robbed in Philly hotel

Ballertainment While the cat’s away, the mouse will get tied up tight in a hotel room with some napkins (of all things) and robbed? Uh, yeah. That’s what happened to the girlfriend of Aroldis Chapman while the couple were in Philadelphia during the Cincinnati Reds road trip. I don’t know where Aroldis was at the time, but his lady should have known better than to answer the...

Aroldis Chapman’s hotel room reportedly robbed, woman left tied up

Talk about bizarre news. Pittsburgh police are currently investigating a robbery that took place inside the hotel room of Reds pitcher Aroldis Chapman. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, officers were dispatched to Chapman’s Omni William Penn hotel room at 10:12 p.m. Tuesday night while he was still at the ballpark for the Reds-Pirates game. Upon arrival, they discovered...

More than meets the eye with latest Aroldis Chapman story

Something very strange, dark and mysterious is going on surrounding Aroldis Chapman. It was just over a week ago that I declared him the lynchpin to the Cincinnati Reds 2012 uprising. A night later he gets in trouble for driving his car 101 miles an hour in Grove City. I thought little of it. Earlier this week, Chapman’s ‘girlfriend’ was found at a hotel in Pittsburgh bound...

Cincinnati Reds Aroldis Chapman's Pittsburgh hotel room was robbed and a 26-year-old female guest of the closer was found tied up at the wrists by paper napkins. She told police a man claiming to be... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~ http://www.bobsblitz.com

Rapid Fire: Reds 3.5 Games Up; Chapman Still On Fire; Billy Hamilton Is Really Fast

With their 12-9 field-goal-fest of a win at Houston on Saturday (whoops, wrong sport), the Cincinnati Reds moved to 30-22 on the season and increased their lead in the NL Central to 3.5 games over the second-place St. Louis Cardinals. The Reds jumped out to an 8-2 lead over the Astros on Saturday, but Mat Latos continued his shaky pitching and quickly gave up the lead. Houston actually...

Votto, Reds hand Astros 8th straight loss

HOUSTON (AP) -- Drew Stubbs homered and drove in four runs, Brandon Phillips added three RBIs and the Cincinnati Reds outlasted Houston 12-9 Saturday night to hand the Astros their eighth straight defeat. Joey Votto went 4 for 4 with a home run and a walk. Todd Frazier and Ryan Ludwick also connected for the Reds, who set a season high for runs. Brandon Phillips doubled in the go...

On the Beat: Fireballer in the Hole by John Perrotto

When Sparky Lyle strode from the bullpen the mound at Yankee Stadium during his days as a premier relief pitches in the mid- to late 1970s, organist Eddie Layton would play "Pomp and Circumstance." That probably wouldn't work as a ballpark song these days, but to hear Dusty Baker tell it, perhaps the traditional graduation accompaniment should be played on the sound...

Explaining My Franchise Player Draft Selection

This afternoon, ESPN is hosting their Franchise Player Draft, tapping 30 of their writers and television personalities to select the player that they would want to build a franchise from scratch around for the next 10 years. As with last year’s version, I was invited to participate, and I was given the eighth overall selection through the random draft order. Sitting at #8, I...
