Edinson Volquez has earned another shot at the major leagues.The 28-year-old has been recalled by the Cincinnati Reds and will likely work in a relief role for the time being.Volquez hasn't pitched in the majors since July 5, when he was demoted to Triple-A Louisville after getting torched for seven run on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.Volquez, a 17-game winner three seasons ago, hasn't been able to recapture his form of that magical 2008 campaign. The hard-throwing righthander is 5-4 in 16 starts with the Reds this season, boasting a 5.93 ERA over 85 innings. He earned a callup after going 4-2 with a 2.37 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 87 1/3 frames in the minors.
