Earlier this season, the Cincinnati Reds scored 20 runs across an 11-game losing streak in April. On Thursday, the Reds matched that total in eight innings against the Chicago Cubs to win, 20-5.
The Reds hadn't scored 20 runs in a game since 1999 when the team did it twice with a 22-3 win against the Philadelphia Phillies and a 24-12 win against the Colorado Rockies.
Chicago jumped out to a 3-0 lead Thursday before the Reds started their scoring frenzy in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run home run. One inning later, Cincinnati poured on eight more runs when the team batted around the Cubs.

The Reds added five more runs in innings five through seven and then finished the day with five more runs in the eighth inning when the Cubs put shortstop Andrelton Simmons on the mound.
Cincinnati started the season 3-22, but the team since won 11 out of its last 19 games to climb back to 14-30. However, the Reds still have the worst record in MLB just behind the 15-30 Washington Nationals and the 14-28 Kansas City Royals.
