Incredibly the Reds rotation did not miss a start all of last season. That streak has already ended this year when Tony Cingrani replaced injured Johnny Cueto. Chad Reineke had a shutout appearance last night and the Louisville rotation appears ready if a second call is needed.

One of the perks of having the oldest franchise in professional sports is the long list of unusual names that have played for the team. Throughout it's 143-year history, the Cincinnati Reds have accumulated a who's-who of outrageous player names. And for your viewing and reading pleasure, I've compiled a 25-man roster full of the best I could find. Caution: If you...

Cincinnati Reds Activate Pitcher Sean Marshall

MLB News: The Cincinnati Reds left handed pitcher Sean Marshall from the 15-day disabled list Friday. Having a weak throwing shoulder, the rest should do Marshall plenty of good. But seeing is believing though, and until he helps support a strong back end to the Cincinnati bullpen, nothing should be taken for granted. Fantasy Ramifications: Marhsall holds no true fantasy value other...

Latos, Frazier deliver 1-0 win to take series

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Mat Latos retired the first 10 batters and 15 of the first 16 he faced and Todd Frazier hit a long home run to help the Reds complete a wacky, impressive, 10-game homestand with 1-0 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. With one out in the sixth inning of a scoreless tie, Frazier blasted a 2-1 pitch 480 feet to straightaway center field to increase his team-leading...

Bad-rroyo debuts in Reds 8-1 loss against the Nationals

Bronson Arroyo waits for a new ball after Bryce Harper lost one in the seats. It took until the fifth start of the 2013 season, but Bronson Arroyo’s evil, incompetent twin Badrroyo finally made his first appearance. Arroyo pitched six innings, allowing nine hits, six runs–five earned, while striking out two. It was a bad performance that the Reds’ offense had no hope of overcoming...

Game 22: Cubs 0, Reds 1

The Reds took the game and the series from the Cubs yesterday, but just barely. Mat Latos was great and finally got a win for his efforts. He put in 7.0+ innings and allowed 0 runs on 4 hits and a walk. One of those hits and the walk were to the first two guys he faced in the eighth, though, so it was a good time to bring in Jonathan Broxton for three quick outs. Aroldis Chapman...

Heisey leaves game with hamstring injury

Washington (AP) -- Cincinnati left fielder Chris Heisey left the Reds' game against the Washington Nationals Saturday in the third inning with a strained right hamstring. Heisey appeared to suffer the injury when he grounded into a double play to end the top of the second inning. Reds manager Dusty Baker and trainer Paul Lessard came out to check on Heisey, who remained in the...

Zimmerman holds Reds to 1 hit in Nats' 1-0 win

On Friday night, the Cincinnati Reds saw something the franchise hasn't experienced in more than 113 years. If they're lucky, it won't happen again for another 113 years. Washington's Jordan Zimmermann was terrific in his second complete game of the season and the Nationals limited the Cincinnati Reds to one hit for the second straight game in a 1-0 victory on Friday...

The Bryce Harper Monster Bomb off Bunny Arroyo that wrecked by gambling account

May 7th, 2009: I tried to be sneaky tonight by taking a prop bet that Bryce Harper would NOT homer off Bronson Arroyo. You figure that Arroyo is a veteran pitcher who should know better than to pitch to the one hitter in the Nationals cold lineup who can hurt you. What resulted was one of the longest home runs that Bryce Harper has ever hit. After the ball landed on the centerfield...

Random observations from week four

by: Dan Howard Staff Writer The 2013 baseball season is well into its fourth week and here are my observations, sprinkled with a few random notes, from what has been a pretty good season thus far. Good News! The Cincinnati Reds have won 12 of 16 at Great American Ballpark this season. The Reds are on pace to win 61 home games this year. Bad News! After Thursday’s...

Nats Will Try To Jumpstart Offense Against Reds

After being swept in the previous series to the St. Louis Cardinals, the Washington Nationals (10-11) will continue their home stand by facing another tough NL Central opponent, the Cincinnati Reds (13-9). Being swept by the Cardinals dropped the Nationals’ record below .500 for the first time since 2011, when they finished the season 80-81. In order to bring their record up...
