Joe Nathan has signed with the Texas Rangers, according to multiple reports.Nathan spent seven seasons as the closer for the Minnesota Twins. The 36-year-old right-hander became a free agent following the 2011 season, and is now on his way to Texas. The signing, a two-year deal, was first reported by MLB.coms T.R. Sullivan and confirmed by FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal. Rosenthal also reported that the signing of Nathan means Texas could move former closer Neftali Feliz into the starting rotation.Late last month, the Twins declined to pick up Nathans club option for 12.5 million for the 2012 season and instead paid him a 2 million buyout. Sports Illustrateds Jon Heyman reported that Nathan will earn about 7 per season during his two-year deal, with a buyout on a third-year option.Nathan missed the entire 2010 season after having Tommy John surgery in the spring. He returned to the Twins in 2011 and struggled initially upon his return. But Nathan had a strong finish to the season. He went on the disabled list in late May, but posted a 3.38 ERA with 28 strikeouts and just five walks in his final 24 games of the season. Before the Twins season was over, Nathan expressed confidence in his health as he entered free agency."That's what my ultimate goal was coming into the season was just to get back to form and at least show this organization and other clubs, if I'm not back here that I am back to form," Nathan said in late September. "I'm as close now as I can be back to form without getting some rest. At this moment right now, I just feel good about where my pitches are, how consistent I've been, especially since coming back toward the second half of June."
