If the Zack Greinke sweepstakes comes down to the two L.A. teams as many have speculated, then the talented right-hander could soon don Dodger Blue. According  to CBSSports.com’s Danny Knobler, the Angels are unlikely to sign Greinke despite once being considered the favorites to do so. A report over the weekend indicated that Greinke could be in line to receive a record-setting deal. Matt Cain inked a six-year, $127.5 million contract extension with the Giants earlier this year, which marked the richest deal for a right-hander in MLB history, but CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman reports that Greinke could net a contract worth up to $150 million. Knobler reports that the Dodgers have shown strong interest in Greinke, and the Rangers are also believed to be interested in the 2009 AL Cy Young winner. Greinke went 15-5 with a 3.48 ERA in 34 starts split between the Angels and Brewers in 2012, and he would immediately bring a top-of-the-rotation arm to whichever squad he lands with.

The Los Angeles Angels will look back on 2012 as a grace disappointment, especially after signing Albert Pujols and acquiring Zack Greinke, only to miss out on the playoffs altogether. Angels Reliever Jordan Walden Could Be a Phillies Fit Should Lopez Deal Fall Through

The agreed-to-but-not-final Wilton Lopez deal that may fall through gives us a little insight as to what the Phillies are thinking.   They want a reliever who can be strong in the 8th inning.  They want someone young, inexpensive, and who will be around a while.  That player could come from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Jordan Walden, suggests Marcus Morris of Pucktacular...

Rumor Mill: Zack Greinke either is or isn’t going to be a Dodger + Brian Wilson + Kyle … Lohse?

Ryan Madson: the new Angels closer or the new Scot Shields?

So you want Ryan Madson to be the new Angels closer, eh?  Well, I suppose that makes some sense.  He does have experience in the role, if your into that sort of thing, and he has a more established track record that incumbent closer Ernesto Frieri.  Such a move would free up Frieri to ease into the high leverage innings more as a setup man.  It's a good idea.  Not a great...

Nats have lots to offer free agents

Two years ago, Zack Greinke rejected a trade to the Washington Nationals because he thought the team wasn't good enough. On Thursday, coming off a 98-win season, the Nats traded for Minnesota center fielder Denard Span, all but screaming at Greinke, "How do you like us now?" I'm not saying the Nats suddenly are the favorites for Greinke -- that distinction belongs...
