Report: Another Phillies Top Prospect Begins Season Injured

The Philadelphia Phillies have another top pitching prospect that will join Andrew Painter on the list of those who are injured. Griff McGarry will not start the season on time due to tightness in his side. 

The report comes from the Philadelphia Inquirer who says the injury is "mild."

McGarry came into spring training as one of the trio of top pitching prospects that had a chance to make the rotation out of camp. Andrew Painter was the headliner of the group that also included Mick Abel. 

However, Painter sustained a sprained UCL and has been kept out of baseball activities since the beginning of March. Now McGarry joins him starting the season injured.

It's been a tough go for Philadelphia and their pitching depth as Ranger Suarez, Christopher Sanchez, and Nick Nelson are all dealing with injuries.

In fact, it is forcing Matt Strahm, a relief pitcher, to start Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees.

A situation the Phillies didn't want to find themselves in still looking for their first win of the season.
