Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Shaun Marcum has been placed on trade waivers on Tuesday, according to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. Marcum's next start was scheduled for Thursday in Chicago, but his waiver period expires at 1 p.m. ET that day, and if he were to be claimed in time, that may change. If another team were to lay claim to Marcum, that team and the Brewers would have 36 hours to negotiate a trade. If he clears waivers, they will have 36 additional hours to negotiate with any other club interested in Marcum's services. Any team that were to claim Marcum would need to pay the remaining 1.6 million on his contract this season, according to Rosenthal. The report specifically mentioned the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have been very busy during the waiver period, as a potential destination. Since returning to the Brewers rotation after elbow tightness kept him off the mound for more than two months, Marcum has made just one starta loss to the Pirates in which he allowed four unearned runs in an up-and-down fifth inning, after handling Pittsburgh for the first four innings. He has a 5-4 record with a 3.19 ERA this season. Follow Ryan Kartje on Twitter.
