San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval has broken the hamate bone in his left hand, according to multiple reports in the Bay Area. Sandoval was hurt swinging the bat in a 3-2 loss to Miami Wednesday. He left the game in the seventh inning. "He took a swing and had quite a bit of pain and had to come out," manager Bruce Bochy said after Wednesday's game. "There's a lot of concern here. We know what this guy means to our club and our offense." Sandoval is hitting .316 and his five home runs, 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored are all team highs.

Giants lose slugger Sandoval to broken left hand

Pablo Sandoval has a broken bone in his left hand that will require surgery, and the San Francisco slugger is expected to miss four to six weeks. The free-swinging switch-hitter broke his right hamate bone in late April last year and had surgery, then it happened again to the other hand in recent days and he aggravated it swinging left-handed in Wednesday's 3-2, 10-inning loss...

Giants' Pablo Sandoval out 4-6 weeks

A Year In The Offense Of The San Francisco Giants

The answer to both questions, of course, is that Pablo Sandoval broke his hand.  Twice. It’s kind of amusing that Theriot and Fontenot are two players who will always be linked to each other throughout their careers, since they are pretty damn similar.  Right down to the silent T’s. But replacing one with the other is not doing much to improve the offense.  Which sucks right...

Sandoval injured, Gillaspie recalled; the injuries begin

Pictured above: Brandon Belt breaking Pablo Sandoval's left hand. Another reason to ride the bench. Reports are revealing Giants third baseman and power hitter Pablo Sandoval has broken his hamate bone in his left hand from last nights loss to the Marlins. Sandoval has been one of the brightest spots for the Giants this season, leading the team in runs(16), home runs(5), RBI...

Giants' Sandoval out 4-6 weeks with broken hamate bone

San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a broken hamate bone in his left hand. Sandoval believes he hurt the wrist Sunday, manager Bruce Bochy told reporters. He came to work Tuesday after a day off and reported soreness in the hand. An X-ray Tuesday didn't reveal the break, but Sandoval then underwent an MRI exam and CT scan that...

Pablo Sandoval Headed to DL with Fractured Hamate Bone

This sucks. Can’t think of any other way to put it. I posted some quick thoughts over at Beyond the Box Score.

Marlins Sweep the Giants

On the day it was announced that Pablo Sandoval would miss the next six weeks with a broken hamate bone in his left hand, the Giants didn’t do much to raise spirits. In fact, these last three games against the Marlins have featured some pretty shoddy baseball on their part: The Giants scored five runs this series. They managed to strand 23 baserunners in this three-game set....

Pablo Sandoval Headed for the Disabled List

Led by Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval, the San Francisco Giants offense has actually been decent this year. Their 95 wRC+ ranks them 8th in the National League, thanks in large part to the contributions of Buster Posey (.342/.400/.575) and Pablo Sandoval (.316/.375/.537). Melky Cabrera has been good, and the team has gotten production from the Brandon Belt/Brett Pill platoon when...

Bochy fears Sandoval has a serious hand injury

It wasn't a happy ending for San Francisco Giants fans. First, their team rallied to tie the Miami Marlins 2-2 in the ninth inning Wednesday, only to lose in the 10th on Giancarlo Stanton's homer off Santiago Casilla. Then came the news about Pablo Sandoval, delivered by manager Bruce Bochy, who strongly hinted Sandoval has a pretty bad left hand injury. "There...

The San Francisco Giants are in big trouble without Pablo Sandoval

It is no fun to be a San Francisco Giants fan right now. The team is in fourth place in the NL West and just got swept by the Miami Marlins.Pablo Sandoval is out with a left hand injury and will be gone for about six weeks. His replacement is Conor Gillaspie.Gillaspie appears to be nothing more than a singles hitter and that is not good.Brian Wilson is out for the year and Freddy...

Zito struggles, Sandoval injured in Giants loss

Barry Zito is back to walking batters with regularity. The offense is suddenly struggling, and Pablo Sandoval has an injured hand that could sideline the Giants slugger. San Francisco's 2012 season is starting to feel a lot like 2011 all over again. Zito tied a career-high with seven walks and Sandoval left after the sixth inning with an injured left hand and wrist, highlighting...

Postgame Wrap: Stomp Your Feet, And Let’s Make Some Noise

Thomas and I both had to work at game time Thursday, so this wrap is a bit delayed. It’s currently 12:30 am on Friday, and I’m watching the game on DVR, writing the wrap in the bottom of the fourth inning. Because that’s the kind of game this is going to be. Again. This Marlins series was never going to go well. Most of you may not remember when the Giants played the Marlins...

Scoring Hits the Breaks as Injuries Accelerate

The San Francisco Giants have apparently found a cure for run scoring fever. Apparently it involves getting a lot of rest during every half inning of every game, and making more frequent visits to the medical clinic. The numbers, as they often do, speak volumes: the first 16 games of the season saw the Giants scoring 4.44 runs per game, a full run per game higher than their disastrous...

SF Giants Rumors: Sandoval, Gillaspie, Huff, Pagan and Cabrera

It’s been a few days since the last post on SF Giants Rumors. A lot has changed since then as well.   The San Francisco Giants have managed to get swept by the Marlins, and Pablo Sandoval is now on the DL with a broken hamate bone. This is the 2nd time Sandoval has broken his hamate bone in the last 2 seasons. Last year he was sidelined for 6 weeks with this injury on the opposite...
