Travis Hafner will begin a rehab assignment tonight in Columbus. No timetable has been given for his return, but it is safe to say 3-5 games would be about right.
Hafner was placed on the DL May 30th, and underwent a right medial meniscectomy (knee) on the 31st.
It was generally assumed that Hafner would be back right after the All-Star break, but if he has no set-backs on his rehab assignment, it would appear Hafner will be back for a week before the break.
Hafner is hitting .242 with an .819 OPS, 6 home runs and 24 RBI in 39 games this season.

Umpire admits mistake on Hannahan foul ball
In the seventh inning of last night’s game, Tribe third baseman Jack Hannahan hit a foul ball into the seats on the third base side. Yankees left fielder Dewayne Wise leaped into the stands and got leather on the ball, but did not make the catch. That didn’t stop umpire Mike DiMuro from calling it a catch however.
Hannahan would be tossed later in the game for arguing the call...

And we’re back on normal time this week. As usual, every Wednesday I bring you all of the news and notes from the Cleveland Indians minor league system.
Last night was exciting in the ninth, but it doesn’t hide the fact the Indians have lost four straight by a margin of 28-7. Yikes. So, since the Indians declared they’re likely to make improvements from within, what possibilities...

The 24-yearold McAllister was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to help the Indians snap a five-game losing streak. He went 5-2 with a 2.98 ERA in 11 starts with Columbus.
This is McAllister's second stint with the Indians. He was 1-1 with...

Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta called a team meeting Thursday to make sure his players have the right attitude to deal with a five-game losing streak.

Afterward, Acta said he wanted to make sure the players know ''it's a very long...
Indians Roster Moves: Vinny Rottino claimed off waivers, Chris Schwinden DFA’d
We saw some moves coming up soon, but this likely isn’t what we were looking for.
The Indians made a pair of small moves today, as they claimed IF/OF Vinny Rottino off outright waivers from the New York Mets. The versatile 32-year-old journeyman is expected to join the AAA Columbus roster and, of course, will be on the 40-man roster.
In 511 career AAA games, he’s a .294/.360...
Indians’ Struggles By The Numbers
Taking a page from Rick’s book today, I’m here with some illustrious stats about the Cleveland Indians. These aren’t the prettiest, so you might want to spare your kids from seeing these.
-51 – Indians’ run differential this season, sixth-worst in MLB. The team with the sixth-worst record is Houston at 32-43 (.427).
12-3 (.800) – CLE’s record in one-run games, the best...

The Cleveland Indians On Losing Streak Why It May Continue
The Indians have lost five games in a row, they have to go to Baltimore and face the Orioles for a three game series. Baltimore is in second place in the A.L. East and the Indians may have a tough time finding some wins there. The Indians are now playing .500 ball and are 2-1/2 games behind the White Sox in the American League Central. Manny Acta’s Indians haven’t looked like...

Kipnis Shakes Things Up At Second Base
Last season was a banner year for second basemen in terms of fantasy baseball. The usual suspects (Cano, Pedroia, Kinsler, Phillips) all had excellent years, while guys like Ben Zobrist, Howie Kendrick, and Ryan Roberts also put up big years. Coming into 2012, second base was a position fantasy owners felt like they could count on for big production in the middle infield. Unfortunately...
Josh Tomlin Can’t Handle The Yankees As The Indians Offense Is Missing
Josh Tomlin had a tough outing as he and his Cleveland Indians took a beating by the New York Yankees. Tomlin only made it through three inning and he got hammered by a New York Yankees team that made the Indians look like they were totally out-matched. The Indians offense looked as though they forgot to show up, the Tribe could only get one run on the board and the Yankees came...

6/26 Game Recap: Indians 4 -Yankees 6

Maybe it's a good thing that Jack Hannahan was ejected tonight. His replacement, Jose Lopez, took advantage of his only at bat with a 3-run home run in the 9th inning. In just one at bat, Lopez scored 5.75 points, winning him his 6th Player of the Game and his 2nd in 3 games.

A Little Help for Chris Perez
So Chris Perez is confused about Cleveland fans again. We’ve already been over the Indians closer’s incredibly myopic complaints about attendance at Progressive Field that he renewed in a recent interview with Tyler Kepner of the New York Times, but now Perez is complaining about the attendance at Cleveland Browns Stadium as well.
“I don’t understand,” Perez told Kepner...
