According to a report from TJ Quinn and Mike Fish at ESPN.com, Major League Baseball is making preparations to suspend Ryan Braun and Alex Rodriguez among 20 other players in wake of the Biogenesis scandal where it is believed that these players received performance-enhancing drugs. Per Quinn and Fish: Commissioner Bud Selig’s office is expected to suspend Braun and Rodriguez, along with as many as 20 players sometime after next week’s All-Star break, several sources told “Outside the Lines.” As OTL reported, MLB started building cases against the players last month after Bosch agreed to cooperate with investigators. The question is the length of the suspensions. Sources said the commissioner’s office was considering 100-game bans for Braun and Rodriguez, the punishment for a second offense, even though neither player was previously suspended for violating MLB’s drug policy. It will be interesting to see if these suspensions will hold up, and even if they can suspend the players mentioned, if they can use the 2nd offense against Rodriguez and Braun. According to the sources for the Outside the Lines report, MLB will argue that they have multiple offenses by receiving the PEDs, and lied about it through questioning. Braun has denied [...]
