Reports out of Boston suggest San Diego Padres executive Jed Hoyer is leaving California to become general manager of the Chicago Cubs.The report says Hoyer will take over as GM in Chicago once the deal between the Cubs and Boston Red Sox for Theo Epstein is completed. The two sides are working out a compensation package for Epstein, who will bolt Boston to become the Cubs' president of baseball operations.Hoyer would be replaced in San Diego by former Arizona Diamondbacks executive Josh Byrnes.The moves are expected to be announced later this week.
