Buzz On Broad:
Don't shoot the messenger, but according to MLBTR.com, the Phillies have shown interst in free agent catcher Jorge Posada.
The news is quite surprising because the Phillies appear set at catcher with Carlos Ruiz and Brian Schnieder, and they appear comfortable with their bench players. But then again, Posada can play some first base, which means he could make a few spot starts in relief of Jim Thome.
But still, there's no reason for them to even have any interest. Posada is 40 years old and is dealing with bad knees. He batted .235 with 14 HR's and 44 RBI's last season. The Phillies are already old enough, there's no need for them to sign yet another aging body.

If Jorge Posada has any baseball juice left, he could try to squeeze it out in Tampa Bay.
If Jorge Posada has any baseball juice left, perhaps he could try to squeeze it out in Tampa Bay?
HBT: Jorge Posada definitely isn't returning to the Yankees, but he might stay in the division as the Rays are interested.
Recently, we learned that Jorge Posada would like to continue playing in 2012 if he can find the right situation. There appears to be interest in the veteran as the Rays, Orioles, and Phillies have inquired on Posada, the catcher's father told Javier Maymi of ESPNDeportes.com (Spanish link).
