The Red Sox have fired up the hot stove, and they're apparently looking to get it cooking nice and early.
The Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo reports via Twitter that the Sox are one of the teams interested in Los Angeles Angels right-handed pitcher Dan Haren.

Haren was one of the two arms the Angels were reportedly shopping to begin the week. The other pitcher they were looking to deal was Ervin Santana, who was reportedly traded to the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon.
Los Angeles has until midnight ET on Friday night to decide whether or not they want to pick up Haren's $15.5 million option. He does have a buyout of $3.5 million, which means that it would likely cost $12 million to pick up the righty.
The 32-year-old right-hander went 12-13 last season with a 4.33 ERA in 176 2/3 innings for the Angeles, his second full season in Anaheim after...

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have until Friday to decide what they’re going to do with Dan Haren. The team has a $15.5 million dollar option for 2013 or it can choose a $3.5 million buyout, which would make Haren a free agent. There’s no doubt there will be suitors for Haren — should he hit the free-agent market — but the question the Angels are probably trying to figure...
ON THE MARKET
It appeared like Dan Haren was getting traded to the Cubs, but that didn't go down. Instead, the pitcher is now a free agent.
Dan Haren became a free agent after the Los Angeles Angels failed to work out a trade and then declined the pitcher's 2013 option.
Haren, a three-time All-Star from 2007-09, gets a $3.5 million buyout under the deal, which included a $15.5 million club option for 2013.
Hours earlier on Friday, the Angels agreed to trade Haren to the Chicago Cubs for closer Carlos Marmol. But...
The Los Angeles Angels who held an option on right handed pitcher Dan Haren ($15.5 million with a $3.5 buyout) for 2013, have exercised that option and have traded him to the Chicago Cubs, Bruce Levine of ESPN Chicago reports. The Angels will receive relief pitcher Carlos Marmol in return. The Angels had until today to decide whether they were going to exercise Haren's option...
Be prepared for the Angels to make at least one trade this week. At this point, it will be an upset if they do not.
The team, according to major-league sources, is aggressively trying to move right-handers Dan Haren and Ervin Santana before deciding on their respective -- and expensive -- club options for 2013.
"I think they trade both guys," one rival executive said...
Well, that escalated (and then de-escalated) quickly.
There the Angels were on the verge of making a questionable deal sending Dan Haren to the Cubs for Carlos Marmol and before we knew it, the trade was called off (by the Cubs, no less!) and Haren's options was declined, leaving the Angels with nothing to show for what appeared to be a nice trade asset.
It was all just...
Dan Haren was traded to the Chicago Cubs for relief pitcher Carlos Marmol on Friday, ending what was a few days of rumors concerning the future of the former Angels starting pitcher.
Reports stated last month that the Angels were unlikely to retain Haren after the season, and that turned out to be the case. Haren spent two and a half seasons with the Angels after being acquired by...
The Los Angeles Angels have traded pitcher Dan Haren to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for pitcher Carlos Marmol, multiple media outlets reported Friday. There had been speculation that Haren would be traded before Friday's midnight deadline on his $15.5 million club option for 2013. The Angels apparently were prepared to buy out Haren's option for $3.5 million if they...
It's been a busy few days for the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim).
On Wednesday, the team traded one starting pitcher in Ervin Santana, sending him and cash to the Kansas City Royals for a minor league pitcher. On Friday, the team was back at it, sending Dan Haren to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for reliever Carlos Marmol, as first reported by the Chicago Sun...
The Angels didn`t trade Dan Haren to the Cubs for Carlos Marmol on Friday night. But if they had, this would have been our reaction.
Details are still trickling out, but it appears that the Angels have finally pulled the trigger on the inevitable Dan Haren trade. Multiple Spanish-language reports claim that Haren has been dealt to the Chicago Cubs for Carlos Marmol.
Carlos Marmol (Cubs) have been traded to the Angels. The pitcher confirms the move to @elcariberd. "Anaheim is a good team".
