The fan accused of calling Miami Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson the N-word might have actually been calling for the Colorado Rockies dinosaur-themed mascot "Dinger" at Coors Field on Sunday night.
A new video surfaced showing the fan who allegedly used a racial slur waving and screaming to Rockies mascot "Dinger," who was standing close by.
The Rockies also told reporters Monday, including KUSA-TV's Steve Staeger, that the fan was yelling for "Dinger" and did not use a racial slur following a further investigation.
NEW: The Rockies tell me last night’s incident was a fan shouting to get the attention of the Rockies mascot Dinger, not a racial slur. The Rockies have spoken to the fan who confirms this is the case. They’ve also reviewed video from the local broadcast. #9News

The Rockies initially condemned the fan for allegedly yelling a slur and have not yet released a follow-up statement.
The incident occurred during the ninth inning of Colorado's 13-8 win on Sunday. According to Marlins spokesman Jason Latimer, Brinson and the other players on the field and in the dugout did not hear what was shouted.
