Here's a switch: An established player is joining the Miami Marlins rather than exiting the team. Free agent outfielder Juan Pierre agreed to a one-year, $1.6 million deal with the Marlins, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. Multiple media outlets confirmed that the sides came to terms. The Marlins recently agreed to trade five high-profile, high-priced players, including shortstop Jose Reyes, right-hander Josh Johnson and left-hander Mark Buehrle, to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for a package of young players and prospects. Pierre, 35, is coming off a good season with the Philadelphia Phillies. In 130 games, he hit .307 with a .351 on-base percentage, one homer, 25 RBI and 37 stolen bases. He could wind up as the Marlins' left fielder, as Logan Morrison could move to first base next year. Miami's incumbent first baseman, Carlos Lee, is a free agent this winter.
