While nobody on the top 10 is surprising by their presence alone, the order that Baseball America chose to rank them is interesting. Let’s look at some key rankings that confused me:
Gavin Cecchini #2?: Well… clearly this is about defense. Cecchini is supposed to have the makeup to stick at shortstop and display a good glove. Except of course that Baseball America also goes as far to say that Cecchini is not the best infielder (defensively) nor does he have the best arm (of infielders) those honors go to Wilfredo Tovar and Aderlin Rodriguez (respectively). They don’t even project him as the future shortstop for the Mets and slide him over to second base (which moves Wilmer Flores to left field!) I’m sorry, but unless I missed something, I think this placement seems wrong.
BEST OF MAXIM
The New York Times’ Ken Belson reports that despite finishing below .500 again, the Mets have raised single-game ticket prices for nearly every seating category, regardless of whether it is for the most expensive dates like opening day and the interleague series against the Yankees or for less appealing matchups early and late in the season against less popular teams.
With the trade of R.A. Dickey just a day or two from becoming official, the Mets now have a significant vacancy in their rotation.
Unless something changes, and it probably wont, Johan Santana and Jon Niese are the Mets best options for the number one spot in the rotation. But both have some concerns.
The pressure will be on for both Matt Harvey and Dillon Gee to carry a bigger share...
LET'S MAKE A DEAL
The Mets and Blue Jays reportedly are talking about a large trade that would center around pitcher R.A. Dickey, who won the Cy Young.
The drama has been played out in the public, it’s been the talk of sports radio,ESPN and print media and it is reaching the point of where do both parties go from here? The Mets are happy for everything that R.A. Dickey has done for them for the past 3 seasons. R.A. Dickey is happy that the Mets took a chance on him when no one else would.
Knuckleballers aren’t as sexy an attraction...
The pending trade between the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays has people buzzing. Opinions have been bandied about everywhere. While one more voice on the subject might get lost in the cacophony, here is the Fan's take on the deal as it stands in the rumor mill. The deal, if completed, makes the Blue Jays a mighty tough team in the American League East and an instant darling...
The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets are close to agreeing on a trade that would send Cy Young award winner R.A. Dickey to Toronto, according to major league sources.
The Mets have been working on parallel tracks with Dickey for weeks, negotiating a contract extension with him while also holding trade discussions. In recent days it became apparent that the Mets had received at...
On Saturday the Mets and Blue Jays put into place the framework of a deal that would send Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey to Toronto. While the deal could still fall apart at any time – it looks like it will be in the following form:
Mets trade Dickey, Josh Thole and a minor leaguer (not elite)
Jays trade Travis d’Arnaud, John Buck, Noah Syndergaard and another minor...
The Mets and Blue Jays quickly moved toward a trade yesterday. A trade isn’t official yet, however news from Jon Heyman is that players in the deal have been agreed on, just no news yet of who is involved. At this point it looks like it is medical reviews that are left, possibly extension talks with Dickey. The Other surprising news from last night is the move might require multiple...

Good news for anyone concerned about Travis d’Arnaud’s knee which he injured last June and resulted in missing the rest of the season.
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, club sources have told him that the team have reviewed the medical records and are not concerned about the knee, saying “it’s fine”.
Meanwhile, no new updates on the...
It’s Sunday morning and R.A. Dickey is still a Met. While the framework of a seven player deal with the Toronto Blue Jays seems to be in place, there’s lots still going on as the Jays have formally requested medical records for Dickey, there’s an extension that still needs to be resolved, players need to be notified, etc. Here is what we know:
According to published reports...
It looks as though the New York Mets might be sending pitcher and last year’s National League Cy Young Award winner, R.A. Dickey to the Toronto Blue Jays. It seems that the Mets are looking to have a rebuilding year and are looking to get top value for their ace pitcher especially after winning the Cy Young Award.
In regards to players that would be involved in the deal it looks...
The Toronto Blue Jays Have pulled into the lead to land Mets starter R.A. Dickey. Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reported on Twitter that trade talks intensified yesterday, and Ken Rosenthal and Jon Heyman are now reporting that the Mets have said they have an acceptable trade offer in hand, but are looking to try and increase the offer if possible.
The Mets have a strong...
Dear Mets fans,
Relax. Why do I say that? I say that because I believe that the front office on your organization is starting to finally turn around the disaster that has been known as the New York Mets.
Sandy Alderson took over the organization after the 2010 season. In 2010, the Mets had a 79-83 record. The starting lineup included Ike Davis, Luis Castillo, Jose Reyes,...
Andy Martino of the Daily News is reporting that Travis D’Arnaud was a “must have” at the winter meetings in a potential deal for Dickey.
According to sources of MLB.com’s Anthony Dicomo’s, Dickey will remain a Met for at least one more night, citing that a deal is unlikely to be completed this evening.
Keep it locked, as the news on this could change...
There has been a lot of back and forth the last few days between the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays and many days of names being tossed around in the media. The main piece in the deal is 2012 Cy Young Award winner R. A. Dickey. A couple...
