RHP Kyle Lohse: Top five teams that should have interest
A lot of attention has been given to free agent RHP Zack Greinke, and rightly so as he should get a contract in the excess of $100 million. Former Cardinals RHP Kyle Lohse (he is unlikely to return) is coming off a career season, but has done very well in the majority of his five year career in St Louis. Entering age 34 for the 2013 season, he should get himself a multi-year deal better than the one he signed with the Cardinals before the 2009 season. His 2008 season where he was 15-6, 3.78 in 33 starts and 200 IP got him his 4 year, $41 million deal with St Louis. His last two seasons, particularly his 2012 season, should get him a deal which should pay him about $13-$15 million a season at a length of about 3 or 4 years.
Lohse led the NL in winning percentage (.842) with his 16-3 record in 2012. He seems to have defined himself as a ground ball pitcher and it has been very good over the past two seasons....
BEST OF MAXIM
Kyle Lohse put together a career year for the Cardinals in 2012, which means he could be in line to become a rich man.
It’s unclear if the Red Sox will ultimately pursue the veteran right-hander, but according to The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo, the Sox “have called about him.”
This news is in line with what the Red Sox — and many other teams — have done this offseason...
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese was involved in a Thursday afternoon traffic accident. In reportedly avoiding a deer, the 29-year-old lost control of his Range Rover and struck a tree in Wildwood, Mo. at about 2:30 P.M. on Thanksgiving.
KMOV Channel 4 reported that Freese was uninjured, showing a photo of the heavily-damaged vehicle, and noting the police plan no...

Late in the day Thursday, the stories about Freese's car wreck started circulating, by 8p, we had a picture. It's hard to not assume the worst, considering the crash was in daylight, the weather was nice...
DOH, A DEER
Cardinals third baseman David Freese slammed into a tree, apparently to avoid a deer, while on his way to his parents' home for Thanksgiving. He was uninjured.
St. Louis Cardinals fans have been spoiled several times over during the last two decades. The team is always competitive, vying for a playoff spot every single season. As my colleague Anthony Wiber pointed out last week, Cardinals fans have plenty to feel thankful about.
Feeling and giving thanks ties perfectly with Thanksgiving. There is one problem though. Thanksgiving is...
If there is something we love more than randomly seeing celebs in Cardinal hats, I haven't found it. It's awesome. And we've featured some of the best on the site (including, who else, AXL ROSE!)
We, shamefully, were on the TMZ and found this:

David Freese had one extra thing to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. He escaped a single-vehicle accident without injury. Freese swerved to avoid a deer yesterday afternoon and struck a tree says Joel Currier of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Police investigated the accident and confirmed the St. Louis Cardinals' third baseman was not injured. Police also confirmed alcohol...
David Freese had a pretty odd Thanksgiving afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m., the Cardinals third baseman and 2011 World Series MVP crashed his Range Rover into a tree in an attempt to avoid hitting a deer, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Freese reportedly declined to receive any medical help once officers arrived at the scene, and while he managed to avoid hitting the deer,...
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese avoided injury in a Thanksgiving Day auto accident in Wildwood, Mo. Freese crashed into a tree while attempted to avoid a deer on Thursday afternoon, St. Louis County police officer Randy Vaughn told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Vaughn said Freese missed the deer and had exited his SUV when police arrived at the scene. He did not...
One of the St. Louis Cardinals' biggest potential concerns appears to have been mollified. Shortstop Rafael Furcal, who did not have surgery immediately on the torn ligament in his right elbow, an injury suffered in late August, apparently will not need an operation. Furcal has been on a strengthening program since he was hurt, and he also received an injection of platelet...
The Boston Red Sox have inquired on free agent right-hander
Kyle Lohse, remain interested in outfielder Josh Hamilton and “made a really
strong push” to sign veteran starter Hiroki Kuroda before he re-upped with the New
York Yankees, reports Rob Bradford of WEEI.com.
Heard from yet another source that #RedSox made a really strong push on Kuroda. Potentially important...
