Josh Donaldson nearly hurting himself thinking he needed to get out of the way of a Rick Porcello pitch in the 9th inning, only to realize it was a breaking ball and he didn't, was the most embarrassing thing to be captured on tape of anyone wearing A's gear on Sunday. (Yes, way more embarrassing than the young A's fan who threw a foul ball back after his Dad gave it to him as a present from a stranger.) Donaldson is a grown man playing a professional baseball game and this should never happen to the former in the latter: They don't call them knee-buckling breaking balls for nothin', but you don't often see them resulting in the hitter falling to his knees, hand saving him from falling completely over, and possibly hurting himself. Mario Impemba said during the telecast he doesn't think he's ever seen something like it before. A quick google search gives me a similar result to Alexei Ramirez, but there's no hint of injury after. Donaldso...

A young Oakland A's fan who was handed a foul ball during Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers shocked nearby fans, including his family, when he immediately throws it back onto the field.
It happened in the top of the eighth inning when Tigers batter Victor Martinez hit a foul ball into the stands behind home plate. A nearby...
Things to notice/know:
1) The crowd is cheering in anticipation of Josh Reddick pieing Josh Donaldson.
2) Thus, Donaldson is bracing for impact in anticipation of it, but does so over the wrong shoulder.
3) Most importantly, in a subtle move, Reddick wipes the hand he touches Donaldson with against that disgusting beard/mouth/face of his.
4) Donaldson then thinks the worst is over...
Aside from the Oakland A’s pitching Sunday and Josh Donaldson wetting himself the funniest thing that happened during Sunday’s game with the Tigers was in the stands. When a foul ball was hit into the stands, a fan caught it and promptly handed it to a dad who was attending the game with his family [...]
The A’s lineup took two big hits Friday night against the Tigers.
First, Coco Crisp went out with a groin strain, then Yoenis Cespedes exited with a left hand injury. He underwent X-rays, which turned out negative.
Crisp is considered day-to-day and not expected to see the DL. But the Cespedes injury will be more costly. The club placed the slugger on the 15-day DL on Saturday...
Oakland Athletics left fielder Yoenis Cespedes was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strained muscle in his left hand after he landed awkwardly in a tumbling slide Friday night.
Cespedes had an MRI on Saturday morning before the middle game of a weekend series against Detroit. It showed no structural damage, and manager Bob Melvin says no surgery will be needed...
Mixed-league roto owners, are you looking for a waiver-wire pitcher before Tuesday's full slate of games?
Here's my free-agent choice (citing most 12-team leagues) for one day of fantasy stardom:
A.J. Griffin, Athletics (vs. Astros)
1. For the season, Griffin has a 2-0 record with a 1.93 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.
2. Last year, Griffin surrendered three runs or less for his first...
Jed Lowrie drove in four runs, Tommy Milone won his third straight start and the Oakland Athletics beat the Houston Astros 11-2 on Monday night.
Nate Freiman added a three-run homer and Brandon Moss had three RBIs for the A's. Oakland also benefited from eight walks - four in the first inning by Houston starter Erik Bedard.
Carlos Pena had two hits for the Astros, who have...
Prince Fielder homered for the second straight game, Torii Hunter hit his first clout since joining Detroit to help back Justin Verlander and the Tigers snapped the Oakland Athletics' nine-game winning streak with a 7-3 victory Saturday.
Jhonny Peralta followed Fielder's leadoff shot in the fourth with a three-run homer, and the Tigers didn't let the A's back into...
The Detroit Tigers ventured into o.co Coliseum (great name….**eye roll**) to take on the red hot Oakland A’s this weekend. The series was a rematch of last year’s hotly contested 5-game American League Divisional Series that wasn’t decided until Justin Verlander pitched a complete game in Game 5 to drag the Tigers to the ALCS against the New York Yankees. It was a series...
With a record of 9-2, The Oakland A’s are off to their best start since 1992 and have the best record in the American League. In an attempt to surpass Billy Martin’s 1981 Athletics’ eleven game win streak, the A’s must win their next three games, two of which are against the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers beat the A’s in
