White Sox manager Robin Ventura doesn’t have any acting experience, but that didn’t keep him from helping to grant a young girl’s wish by appearing in a play Wednesday.

Ventura acted and said a line in the 34th annual production of “A Christmas Carol” at Goodman Theatre in downtown Chicago Wednesday night. He was acting along with 9-year-old Emily Beazley, a White Sox fan, whose dream was to perform on stage.

Young Emily was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Thanks to the Goodman Theatre and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, she was able to perform in the play.

Here is a video of Ventura and Beazley in the play, courtesy of the White Sox website:

Ventura really went out of his way for the play; he flew out from California Tuesday and returned Thursday morning. It sounds like it was worth it, too.

“Since she has been little, it has been her wish,” said Ed Beazley, Emily’s father. “She always wanted to be a star, and this has gone beyond our wildest expectations.”
