Dexter Fowler's second home run of the game and sixth this season, a solo shot off Huston Street in the ninth inning, snapped a tie and sent the Colorado Rockies to a 7-5 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday night.
Padres slugger Carlos Quentin was in the cleanup spot after appealing an eight-game suspension for his role in a wild fight with the Los Angeles Dodgers the previous night. Quentin, also fined $3,000, went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.
Todd Helton had three hits for the Rockies, who stopped a three-game slide.
Yonder Alonso hit a two-run homer for the Padres (2-8), who have lost three straight.
Fowler, who hit a solo shot in the fifth, drove a 1-1 pitch to right-center against Street (0-1). Josh Rutledge followed with his first home run on a 2-2 pitch into the left-field stands.
The back-to-back homers made a winner of Rockies reliever Rex Brothers (1-0).

BY: MICHAEL PINA, ESPN's TrueHoopThe beginning of a fresh baseball season inspires hope in just about everybody: fans, coaches, players, agents, managers, and owners. Everyone peripherally involved feels hope towards April baseball games in a way that very few aspects of life can equal. Dexter Fowler helped propel the Rockies to a hot start. It’s another chance. Fowler has been a huge surprise.Who is this guy?Dexter Fowler, suddenly a guy more fitting of the cleanup role, launched two home runs on Friday night, both of which came when the game was tied, helping the Rockies to a 7-5 victory at Petco Park in San Diego. It defies reality. Fowler has always been talented. He was one of the most highly touted prospects in Rockies history. However...
This post is going to be short and sweet, but given what transpired last night and David Temple’s plea to Quentin on Tuesday, I got curious about where the pitch locations of Carlos Quentin‘s HBPs actually have been. We all know he hangs over the plate, and that he gets hit by a lot of pitches, so I asked Jeff Zimmerman to query out PITCHF/x data and create a plot of where Quentin...
That is no typo. Greinke out with no timetable.
Pitching in just his second game as a Dodger, Co-Ace Zach Greinke suffered a collar bone fracture during a scuffle with Hit By Pitch King, Carlos Quentin. Quentin, who has lead the majors for two seasons was plunked during a 3-2 count in the 5th and charged the mound. In a surprise to catcher A.J. Ellis, who was steps behind Quentin...
That didn't take long, did it? The Colorado Rockies acquired Aaron Harang and, most importantly, $4.5 million in cash from the Dodgers. Today, the Rockies flipped Harang again, this time the 35-year old hurler has landed with the Seattle Mariners in exchange for prospect Steve Hensley. Colorado also sent over about $2 million in cash to offset the buyout for Harang's 2014...
The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres were having a seemingly normal baseball game last night when things went horrible wrong. Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke hit the Padres’ Carlos Quentin and Quentin subsequently charged the mound. The resulting brawl resulted in a broken collarbone for the Dodgers’ $147 million pitcher. Thanks to Gamedayr for [...]
On Thursday, Carlos Quentin started a massive brawl when he charged the mound against Los Angeles Dodgers starter Zach Greinke.

It happened in the fifth inning of play as Dodgers pitcher Zach Grienke hit Carlos Quentin in the elbow with a pitch.
Carlos wasn't exactly happy about getting hit and decided to charge the mound to take his frustrations out...

In case you missed it, Dodgers starting pitcher Zach Greinke nailed Padres hitter Carlos Quentin in the shoulder with a pitch. Quentin paused for a moment and appeared as if he was going to do the right thing and just take his base. Then he charged...
