The Last Angry Fan:
If you can count this high then you probably don’t play for the Colorado Rockies.
During Sunday’s game between the Rockies and Reds at Coors Field, a rather funny moment took place in the top of the fifth, when the entire Colorado team didn’t realize that Jonathan Sanchez’s strikeout of Reds left fielder Chris Heisey was the third out of the inning. The team stayed on the field, even starting the around-the-horn, until the home plate umpire Cory Blaser came out from his station to let the Rockies know that in baseball, three outs means inning over.
Welp, that was rather embarrassing, wasn’t it? Way to keep your head in the game, boys.

Lohse is a guy the Reds would have liked to keep
In honor of the July 31st trade deadline that's fastly approaching, I've compiled a list of some of the worst deadline deals made by the Reds in recent memory. CINCINNATI It was little more than a week ago, seven or eight days away from the trade deadline, when Cincinnati Reds fans wanted Drew Stubbs out of sight and out of mind trade him for a sack of sweat socks, a moldy rosin bag and a sticky pine tar rag.
Stubbs was so close to the Mendoza Line (below .200) that if he twitched his toes he'd be on it. And he was striking out at...
Just about everything is going right for the Cincinnati Reds.
In the midst of their longest winning stretch in 13 seasons, the Reds can complete their first road sweep of the Colorado Rockies since 2000 with a 10th straight victory Sunday at Coors Field.
Ryan Ludwick hit two of Cincinnati's five solo homers as the Reds (60-40) overcame a three-run first-inning deficit to beat...
On June 19, before the start of a three-game series at Philadelphia, manager Jim Tracy announced that struggling Jeremy Guthrie had lost his spot in the rotation and no one would replace him. Instead, the Colorado Rockies would go to a four-man rotation with the starter working on a 75-pitch limit that has gradually been loosened. In front office parlance, it is a paired pitching...
It's been said before, you don't make promises that you can't or don't intend to keep. One person who's undoubtedly rehashing this in their mind right now is none other than longtime radio broadcaster Marty Brennaman. This is because the 70-year old wound up on the losing end of a promise on Sunday and must now hold up his end of the bargain, which...

When Joey Votto had knee surgery, the Cincinnati Reds were facing a turning point in their season. An offense that had been so-so was going to have to get along without its best hitter for about a month.
How have the Reds responded? With one of the best surges in franchise history.
The Reds have won 10 in a row heading into the start of their series against the San Diego Padres...
Earlier this month the Reds position in first place was threatened when slugger Joey Votto went on the DL for knee surgery. Last night's win at Colorado extended a winning streak to nine games before they go for a third consecutive series sweep Sunday. Over that time their runs/game have increased 25% as multiple players in the lineup have stepped up to pick up the slack from his absence.
The Reds, owners of Major League Baseball's lowest bullpen ERA (2.66), added another arm to their relieving core on Tuesday as they acquired RHP Jonathan Broxton from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for minor league prospects LHP Donnie Joseph and RHP JC Sulbaran.
Broxton, 28, was 1-2 with a 2.27 ERA and 23 saves in 35 appearances for the Royals this season. He'...
CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Reds strengthened the back end of their bullpen by acquiring closer Jonathan Broxton from Kansas City for a pair of minor leaguers.
Manager Dusty Baker said after Tuesday's trade that Broxton will be a setup man for closer Aroldis Chapman and can finish games when the left-hander isn't available.
Cincinnati was hoping to upgrade its starting lineup...
A Jonathan Broxton account, (@Brox4AllStarz) showed up on Twitter shortly before the All-Star voting deadline, begging followers to send the Kansas City closer to the All-Star Game. The account was active for a few days, begging fans to send 'ol Broxy to the All-Star game, the majority of the tweets in the third person, with a simpleton's vocabulary.
Upon news of...
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Will Venable drove in four runs with a single and a bases-loaded triple Monday night, and the San Diego Padres emphatically ended one of the longest winning streaks in Reds history with an 11-5 victory that brought out the worst in Cincinnati.
Former Reds played starring roles in stopping their 10-game streak. Edinson Volquez (7-7) got the win, and Yonder Alonso...
WKRC in Cincinnati covered the story on the fire that broke out after a pyro malfunction before Raw went live at the U.S. Bank Arena. The story features interviews with fans that were evacuated from the building.
Their story also notes that Evacuation and arrival of emergency crews caused a traffic headache with the Cincinnati Reds having a home game next door at Great American Ballpark
