Colorado Rockies starter Christian Friedrich dealt with lower back pain last season, which limited him to throwing only 14.2 innings in the minors. In 2012, the left-hander made his MLB debut with the club, starting 16 games. Friedrich is now making progress with the injury, according to Troy Renck.Photo By FalmouthCommodores via Flickr.comFriedrich, 26, had to alter his mechanics to compensate for the back issue. He has begun to throw bullpen sessions, which is considered a positive step. Although Friedrich struggled in 2012 with the Rockies, posting a 6.17 ERA and a 1.56 WHIP, the lefty did have a more promising FIP (4.63) and SIERA (4.05). He throws a 92 MPH fastball, slider, curveball, and changeup. If healthy, there is a chance Christian Friedrich could make the Colorado Rockies out of Spring Training.
