Rockies Win Back-To-Back Games For the First Time This Season

They have finally done it. For the first time this season, the Colorado Rockies have won back-to-back games. This two-game win streak has given the Rockies their ninth and tenth win of the season. Friday’s win was against the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers. Although they still have a horrendous record of 10-28, and they’re 15 games back from the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West, the Rockies finally have confidence on their side. They’ve scored 13 runs these past two games while allowing just three runs. While Colorado has edged themselves on the wrong side of the MLB history books this season, their main focus should pertain to not finishing with the worst record in the majors. The Miami Marlins are 10-30, while the Chicago White Sox have a record of 11-28.

Rockies Win Back-To-Back Games For the First Time This Season

During the Rockies’ 9-1 win over their division rival San Francisco Giants, starting pitcher Cal Quantrill pitched six innings, allowing one run on five hits and three walks while striking out five. Center fielder Brenton Doyle had three runs batted in. Colorado’s designated hitter Charlie Blackmon broke his slump by driving in two runs. On Friday, the Rockies grabbed a 4-2 victory over the defending World Series champions. Starting pitcher Austin Gomber pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters. Blackmon was instrumental in his team’s win. He smashed a two-run double during the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Rockies the lead, and the eventual win. Colorado has another two games against the Rangers. If they win two out of three games or even sweep Texas, the Rockies should feel a boatload of confidence and motivation.
