Getz wins Second Base Job

by John Viril— Royals Manager Ned Yost announced today that Chris Getz will open the season at second base ahead of competitor Johnny Giavotella. Given their performances in spring training, this decision was a foregone conclusion. Getz clearly outhit Giavotella during spring training (.940 OPS vs. .683)—a death knell for the roster hopes of hitting-first player like Giavotella...

Kansas City Royals mascot gets a lap dance (NSFW photo)

The Kansas City Royals have been last, or close to last, in the AL Central for as long as most MLB fans can remember. However, they are overwhelmingly first in mascot debauchery. Someone tweeted with picture (again Not Safe For Work) of Sluggerrr, the Kansas City Royals mascot getting his naked lap dance on. You’ll have more respect for the Kansas City Royals when you see this...

30-1 MLB countdown previews: #9 Royals

The Kansas City Royals have not been to the playoffs since 1985. They have had all losing seasons since 1995 except one (2003 under Tony Pena: 83-79). The organization has had some terrible drafts and not caught a lot of breaks since the early 1990s. However, General Manager Dayton Moore had built a strong farm system bringing prospects like Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Alex Gordon...

Time for an Endy Reunion?

News broke yesterday that Endy Chavez was released by the Kansas City Royals, and it made me wonder if the Mets might consider adding him to the mix. It kind of goes against everything this team represents. We are in a youth movement right now. Although Chavez holds a special place in our hearts for one of the best catches we’ve ever seen a Met make, I think it’s just not the...

The White Sox will wait until this weekend to make a decision on whether Crain will start the year on the active roster or the disabled list. In Monday’s outing Crain worked two-thirds of an...

A few days have passed since Alejandro De Aza and the Dominican Republic captured the World Baseball Classic crown. With that, let’s take a look at how each of the four White Sox participants fared in the event. ALEJANDRO DE AZA As mentioned above, De Aza helped his native Dominican Republic win their first WBC title, defeating the Puerto Ricans and fellow Sox outfielder...
