The Kansas City Royals have reach agreement on a one-year contract with right-handed reliever Jonathan Broxton.
The 27-year-old Broxton was limited to 14 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, going 1-2 with seven saves and a 5.68 ERA.
He is coming back from minor elbow surgery and will be looking to regain the former that made him one of baseball's top closers.
The hard-throwing Broxton had a stellar season in 2009, registering 36 saves with a 7-2 record, 2.61 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 76 innings.
He dropped to 22 saves and a 5-6 record in 64 appearances in 2010.
