The Tigers bullpen combined to take a seven inning shut out start by Justin Verlander Wednesday afternoon and flush it down the toilet.  But they didn’t just choose your garden variety mostly-clean toilet at someone’s place of residence.  Instead, they found the nastiest public toilet on the face of the planet. Tigers “closer” (and I only use that term because they do) Jose Valverde entered the game in the ninth inning with a 2-0 Tigers lead and Eric Hosmer on first.  He got Salvador Perez to fly out and he struck out Billy Butler.  He even had the next batter, Lorenzo Cain, down 0-2.  Instead of trying to get Cain to chase, he walked up and placed a beach ball on a tee for him.  Cain deposited it over the left center field wall to tie the game at two.  Phil Coke then shockingly gave up a single, a sacrifice bunt and then a game-winning single to Eric Hosmer in the 10th. While I was busy crucifying the Tigers porous bullpen on Twitter (HERE and HERE), the Royals (namely Eliot Johnson and Hosmer) had their own odd way of celebrating. Following the walk-off, Johnson wanted Hosmer’s uniform off. via The Score So not only did Tigers’ fans collective blood boil after the bullpen blow up, but we had to see one guy try to disrobe another. Be gone, Valverde.
