The Kansas City Royals have announced that they have claimed left-handed pitcher Aaron Laffey off of outright waivers from the New York Yankees. To make room on the 40-man roster for Laffey, the team designated Jesse Chavez.

The Yankees first couple of moves this offseason are of the minor variety as they have lost three relievers. One, Aaron Laffey was claimed off waivers by the Royals (link) and the other two, Scott Proctor and Raul Valdes, simply elected to become free agents (link).

The Royals added another left-hander to their bullpen mix Tuesday afternoon by acquiring Aaron Laffey from the New York Yankees in a waiver claim. Laffey, 26, was 3-2 with a 3.88 ERA in 47 games while splitting the past season with the Yankees and Mariners.
