Baseball's top executives have gathered at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and among the speculation and rumors being overheard from the lobby is talk that the Royals pursuit of a starting pitcher could force them to part...

Are the Orioles the Answer to the Royals Prayers?

The Royals hunt for a quality young starting pitcher is the worst kept secret in baseball. At various times over the last few weeks, the team has been rumored to be considering trading Wil Myers, Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer, and Billy Butler in an effort to obtain a hiågh quality arm, preferably one with multiple years of team control and a bright future. Over the last few days,...

Mets In Hot Pursuit Of Wil Myers

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, multiple sources say the club is still pursuing Kansas City Royals outfield prospect Wil Myers. The 21-year-old outfielder hit .314/.387/.600 with 37 homers, 109 RBI and 98 runs in 134 minor-league games last season (35 in Double-A, 99 in Triple-A). The Royals have been very tepid on R.A. Dickey and have been notably rumored in swapping...

Winter Meetings Notes, Day 1

In addition to the deals that were reached throughout the day Monday, a handful of managers met with media members for interviews. Here are some of the highlights from those sessions. Royals manager Ned Yost was asked if fixing Eric Hosmer is as simple as giving him a clean slate: "Yes. It really is," Yost said. "And getting back to work with new hitting coaches...

Rangers agree to two-year contract with Soria

Injured closer Joakim Soria and the Texas Rangers have reached an agreement on an $8 million, two-year contract. The deal announced Tuesday at baseball's winter meetings includes a team option for 2015. Soria, a two-time All-Star with Kansas City, is recovering from elbow ligament-replacement surgery on April 3. The 28-year-old right-hander also had the ligament replaced in...

Myers For Dickey Trade Unlikely

Updated 7:00 PM Bob Dutton of the Royals Report believes that the Royals will NOT part with Myers for Dickey. This does not close the door on acquiring Wil Myers through another trade offer, however. #Royals say talks with #Mets for knuckleballer R.A. Dickey are dead if the price is OF Wil Myers. — Bob Dutton (@Royals_Report) December 4, 2012   Original Post 1:13 PM According...

Rangers Sign Joakim Soria

Not exactly the biggest news of the winter meeting, but the Rangers agreed to sign Joakim Soria to a two year contract today, and Danny Knobler suggested that it would be in the $8-$9 million range, and Alden Gonzalez adds that Texas got a team option for a third year in the deal as well. This is a bit of an unorthodox move, as Soria had Tommy John surgery in April, and is unlikely...

Mets targetting Royals prospect Wil Myers

Apparently teams that have come away from their talks with the New York Mets regarding R.A. Dickey have acknowledged that the team’s asking price is extremely high.  First off, I think the following tweet from Andy Martino of the New York Daily News best explains that stance. #bbpBox_275869272276865025 a { text-decoration:none; color:#0084B4; }#bbpBox_275869272276865025 a:hover...
