TEAMS: Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Angels
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) An encouraging road trip to start the season ended in most discouraging fashion for the Kansas City Royals. Now, they return home for a reset of sorts.
Kansas City plays the Cleveland Indians on Friday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals took two of three from the Los Angeles Angels last weekend, and started out well against the Oakland Athletics before losing a pair of one-run games.
In the series finale, Royals closer Jonathan Broxton walked a pair of batters and then plunked back-to-back hitters, sending in the winning run in the 12th inning.
Royals manager Ned Yost says a day off Thursday will purge that from the team's memory, and the home opener on Friday will allow the team to start fresh.

Ok, I'm not going to lie... I went to bed at the rain delay. Yes, I know the game was nearly over, but I just wanted to lay in bed and catch up on the new season of "The Killing". Awesome show, by the way... and the game never restarted, so I dodn't miss anything as the Royals won 3-0 in the rain-shortened game.
My early bow-out aside, Danny Duffy kept the streak...
Royals' Opening Day bruises will heal
You know what? Someday, you'll look back on Friday and laugh. Or cry. That's the trouble with Opening Day. It's a holiday of hindsight.
"No, obviously not the way we wanted to open up at home for our fans," Royals manager Ned Yost said after an 8-3 loss to Cleveland at Kauffman Stadium. "Just got away from us quick."

Royals must improve offense to compete in AL
Friday's Royals' opener obviously was lost early when center fielder Jarrod Dyson misplayed a fly ball with two outs, allowing the Indians to eventually come up with four additional runs during a seven-run, punch-in-the-gut first inning.
But here's the thing: If the Royals are going to hang around in the American League Central throughout this summer, they are going...

Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain has been placed on the disabled list with a left groin strain, taking him out of the lineup as the team returns to Kansas City for its home opener.

The Royals are at .500 and head back to Kansas City

The anticipated weak link of the Royals, the starting rotation, is doing well. In two starts against the Angels and the A’s, Bruce Chen...

Dont look now, but The Weak Link is 3-1 with a 1.85 ERA.
In 34 innings, The Weak Link has allowed just 22 hits and struck out 25. Thanks largely to The Weak Link, the Kansas City Royals hit their home opener Friday with the lowest team ERA (2.39) in the American League.
